The Israeli Association for the Initiative of a Sustainable Built Environment, is Israel'sleading professional entity in this field.
This is a Non-Profit Organization (NPO) comprising of environmental leaders,architects, engineers, entrepreneurs and companies which have adopted green technologies. It's aim is to promote public awareness and development ofprofessional skills and practices in the field of green building, while making it accessible andavailable to all.
The Association is active in the international arena by promoting globally the subject of sustainability and green building in liason with the IISBE (the International Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment) and WGBC (World Green Building Council).

Background
Israel Association for the Initiative for a Sustainable Built Environment began its activities back in 2000 on a voluntary basis, when nine environmental enthusiasts joined forces in a common belief that this was the most urgent environmental issue that should and will be addressed in the forthcomming years.
Initial investigation of the subject matter revealed that Israel lags behind the rest of the world in this field, and also lacks the necessary knowledge. In addition, the availability of open areas allocated for construction, is becoming scarcer by the year.
Through the years, Israel's planners and designers have ignored environmental requirements, which in hindsight, should have been the initial starting point of every new construction.
To redress this state of affairs, numerous fact finding visits abroad were undertaken, together with meetings with experts inthis field, attendance at seminars and world conferences, including training sessions in Israel given by renowned experts, helped the Association to be formally launched in 2004. To date, it has more than 300 members. |
